MDTIOC is helping Orange County medical device industry businesses grow through the innovative and specialized training of its workforce.
The medical device industry continues to grow despite the nation's economic struggles. In 2002 the United States accounted for $72 billion of the global sales in the medical device industry. In 2006 California employed over 100,000 medical device employees, of which more than 17,000 worked in Orange County. Orange County holds the nation's largest cluster of biomedical and diagnostic companies with over 250 such companies. This growth is accompanied by a need for individuals who are properly trained in regulatory affairs and global compliance standards.
MDTIOC offers two training options for the community. The Quality Assurance Certificate Program offers in-depth instruction regarding the regulations and global standards that affect the development and management of medical devices. Individual short workshops are also offered. Each course is led by instructors who are experts in their fields and can share real life industry problems and solutions. Program participants will review current trends and developments that are affecting the medical device industry. Some courses transfer toward specific UCI Extension Life Science Certificates.
